Payment Policy
Payment Policy
This policy describes the payment methods we accept, the currency, the security measures applied to your payment data, and what happens if a transaction is declined.
Payment Methods
We accept all major payment methods supported by our payment processor:
- Credit and Debit Cards — Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, Maestro, Union Pay;
- Apple Pay and Google Pay on compatible devices;
- Shop Pay — express checkout for returning Shopify customers;
- PayPal;
- Amazon Pay.
Currency
All prices displayed on theaparis.com and all transactions processed on this website are in US Dollars (USD). Customers paying with a card issued in a different currency may see a conversion applied by their bank; any exchange-rate fees are the responsibility of the cardholder.
When You Are Charged
Your card is charged in full at the moment your order is placed. We do not pre-authorize, hold, or stage payments. If your order is canceled before shipment for any reason (out of stock, fraud check, address error), the full amount is refunded automatically to the same payment method within 7 business days.
Payment Security
Théa Paris takes payment security seriously. The infrastructure behind our checkout is built and maintained as follows:
- HTTPS / TLS encryption across the entire website. All connections to theaparis.com are encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3.
- Shopify Payments as the primary processor, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified — the highest standard in the payment industry.
- Tokenization. Card numbers are never stored on our servers in plain text. They are tokenized end-to-end by the processor.
3-D Secure Authentication (SCA)
Card transactions are subject to 3-D Secure 2 (Strong Customer Authentication). Depending on your bank, you may be prompted to confirm the payment through your mobile banking app, an SMS code, or a fingerprint or facial verification. If 3-D Secure authentication fails, the transaction is declined.
Sales Tax
US sales tax is calculated at checkout based on the destination state. The tax amount is displayed before you confirm payment. We collect and remit sales tax only in states where Théa Paris has a tax obligation; otherwise, you may be responsible for declaring the use tax to your state authority, depending on local law.
Declined or Failed Payments
A transaction may be declined for any of the following reasons:
- Insufficient funds on the card;
- Billing address mismatch (AVS check failure);
- 3-D Secure authentication failure;
- Fraud filter triggered (Shopify's risk score or our manual review);
- Card expired, blocked, or restricted for online purchases by the issuing bank.
If your payment is declined, please first contact your bank to identify the reason. You may also try a different payment method at checkout.
Refunds and Chargebacks
For refund procedures, please see our Refund & Return Policy. Chargebacks initiated without first contacting us are handled through the standard Shopify Payments / Visa-MasterCard dispute process. We always recommend reaching out to contact@theaparis.com first — most issues are resolved faster than a chargeback dispute can be opened.
