Payment Policy

This page explains how payments are processed at Théa Paris and what cards and methods we accept.

  • Shop Pay (1-tap checkout)
  • PayPal (where available)

Currency

All prices on theaparis.com are listed in US Dollars (USD). Your card will be charged in USD. If your card is in a different currency, your bank will apply its own exchange rate at the time of purchase.

Payment processing & security

Payments are processed through Shopify Payments (powered by Stripe). Your card details are encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and tokenised at the processor — Théa Paris never sees or stores your full card number.

The payment processors we use are PCI-DSS Level 1 certified, the highest standard in the industry. The same certification used by Apple, Amazon, and major US banks.

When is my card charged?

Your card is charged at the moment you place the order, not when the order ships. If we cannot fulfil the order for any reason (out of stock, fraud check fail), the charge is automatically refunded within 5 business days.

Authorisation holds

If your bank shows a "pending" or "authorisation" charge that does not appear in your Théa Paris order history, this is your bank's hold released within 1–7 business days — not a duplicate charge.

Failed or declined payments

If your payment is declined, the order is not placed. Common reasons:

  • Insufficient funds
  • Address verification (AVS) mismatch — billing address must match what your bank has on file
  • Suspected fraud — your bank's automated risk system held the transaction

Try a different card, or contact your bank to authorise the transaction. We do not have visibility into why your bank declined.

Refunds

Refunds are processed back to the original payment method. Card refunds typically settle in 5–10 business days. PayPal refunds settle in 1–3 business days. See our Refund Policy for full details.

Disputes & chargebacks

If you have an issue with your order, please email contact@theaparis.com first — we resolve 95% of issues directly within 1 business day, much faster than a bank chargeback (which takes 30–90 days).

Sales tax

US sales tax is calculated at checkout based on your shipping address, in compliance with state nexus laws. Tax-exempt customers (resellers, non-profits) should email contact@theaparis.com with documentation before placing the order.
